Stealth action dungeon crawler game
Raw Metal is a premium action game for PC from developer Team Crucible. This sci-fi stealth adventure is set in the far edges of the galaxy. In it, players take on the role of a lone scavenger who sneaks into a large mining facility to scavenge for resources while avoiding detection at all costs.
What makes Raw Metal unique is its use of various perspectives that combine the top-down exploration of Quasimorph with the immersive third-person view of fighting games like Tekken 7. This demo serves as a nice preview of what players can expect from its gameplay.
Varying perspective
Raw Metal takes place in the distant future on the barren exoplanet of Charybdis on the edge of the system. You are a lone scavenger scouring for resources who decides to sneak into a massive mining facility called Katabase 6 that is run by a corrupt megacorporation, Orpheus Tech. However, the whole place is protected by heavily armed guards. Avoid them or risk a dangerous confrontation.
Explore labyrinthian mazes across nine levels crawling with armed guards. Stay in the shadows and utilize five deployable gadgets to get past patrols and avoid detection. If you're detected, you have no choice but to fight. Combat is freeform and relies on speed to deal combos and parry enemy attacks. Collect over 50 pieces of upgradable equipment for your character to increase your chances of survival.
This game features gripping one-on-one fights against three bosses with unique attack styles you need to defeat to progress the story. There's a risk vs. reward system in place that lets you cash in your loot or push further to your run — the choice is yours. Given the nature of its combat, there's a slight learning curve in getting used to its mechanics.
Something different
Overall, Raw Metal is a unique entry to the stealth action-adventure genre with its distinct use of switching perspectives and highly engaging combat. There are various areas to explore and gear to collect. It does take some time to get used to its mechanics, but it's worth the effort for everything you get in exchange. Check it out and see for yourself.
